I chose this issue because I find this topic very interesting and more people need to know how important protein is to our health. Protein is important for everyone in order to have a body that is healthy and strong, without it, that is nearly impossible. Before researching in depth about this topic, I knew that it was it is crucial for our body and different sources of protein. During the first unit of wellness, I learned more about protein and where to find it. This is important to all teenagers because without it, the unfortunate consequences vary.
From researching about this issue, I found out the different amounts of protein each person needs. I had a rough idea on how much I needed, but I expanded my learning about how different people need different amounts of protein based on different ages, gender, activity levels. I believe that without protein, you can not be healthy, and think it’s important for everyone to know that. Some new information that I found surprising was that even rice and corn has protein a few grams of protein. A lot of people think that you can never have enough protein, but that’s incorrect. Having too much protein can be dangerous to people with kidney disease. A common misunderstanding about this topic, is that you can only get protein from meat. That is totally false. Nuts, tofu, beans and many other animal free products can give you the right amount of protein that your body needs. In conclusion, I think people need to know how much protein they for themselves, and how much they are currently getting. It’s important to know how much they are getting in order to stay healthy.
