The health issue I would like to present today is sleep talking. This issue is important because if it is not solved now, it might result in various kinds of disasters while sleeping. I picked this issue because I myself sleep talk at times.
This issue affects teenagers because as they wake up, it weakens their ability to think. They also get distracted which leads them to unnecessary problems. I learned that, half of all kids between the age of 3 and 10 carry on conversations while asleep and about 5% of adults sleep talk as well. I also learned that, sleep talking is most likely to be inherited. Some interesting facts about this issue are:
- Sleep talking is usually about what happened during the day.
- Sleep talkers might answer questions if you ask them.
- Sleep talking can occur at any stage of sleep.
It affects me because, I lack sleep due to sleep talk. This makes me tired and makes me lack concentration. Some problems with sleep talk are, though it is not harmful, it can be very embarrassing for the patient. PatIents who sleep talk might try to avoid sleeping near others in fear that they might disrupt someone else’s sleep. Some solutions to avoid sleep talk is to get enough sleep, stop eating before bed, avoid late night caffeine, make your sleep environment more comfortable, follow a regular sleep schedule, avoid looking at screens for a long time right before bed, and avoid excessive amount of stress. My opinion is that, people need to practice the solutions mentioned above in order to get a healthy sleep. I believe that the concept of sleep talking can be applied to new situations because other sleep disorders like sleepwalking, may be related to sleep talking.
In conclusion, this issue is important for you to know about because, if people don’t know how to deal with this problem properly, they might wake up disturbed which leads to lack of concentration during the next day. This issue is important to me because, I myself sleep talk and end up having bad side effects. To help solve this problem, you need to get enough sleep, stop eating before bed, avoid late night caffeine, make your sleep environment more comfortable, follow a regular sleep schedule, avoid looking at screens for a long time right before bed, and avoid excessive amount of stress. If we follow these steps, we can solve this issue.
