I love watching movies, I feel relaxed and happy every time I watch movies. But there are times that I feel disappointed because there are movies that I am curious to watch but I am not allowed due to age restrictions. This is the reason why I chose Movie Ratings as my topic and how it affects the mental health and well being of the people. This issue affects children and teenagers who loves watching movies as they use the characters as their role models. They imitate what they see or what interests them.
To understand my topic more, my mom and I went to MTRCB or the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board. I get to meet the board members, tour the different offices and got a copy of their Rules and Regulations Booklet. What I learned from this issue is people especially children can be influenced in what they see in movies that leads to positive or negative behavior.
Some interesting facts and experience about this issue are the MTRCB’s way to monitor the different channels in one room. There were 2-3 people supervising and monitoring the different channels. Ms. Bibeth Orteza Siguion-Reyna, one of the board members, showed me the mini cinema where they watch, review and classify the upcoming movies. She said that classification is important so the parents will be able to determine if the movie is suitable for their kids. It is also important so that the movie makers will be guided on what film to produce and for the movie goers to know before hand if it is worth watching the film. She also said that the producer can request to reclassify or re-evaluate if they don’t agree with the first rating. How interesting it was while I was researching on the different movies for possible examples. I saw a movie entitled “ Bakit Ang Taba Ko?” (Why Am I So Fat?”). This movie was rated X because the word “taba” (fat) can be an offensive title for a movie.
I believe that movie ratings are important especially for children as this movies can affect the health and well being of a person. We can be easily influenced in what we see in the movies. For example, watching horror movies at a very young age can develop traumatic memories and same with tearjerkers film it should be avoided by children because it can lead to depression if viewed at an early age. Sad to say, that there are some movies rated as R-13 that contains violent activities and bad language and studies shows that teenagers who watched this film had big chance to be involved in violent actions and greater chance to use bad language. On the other hand some movies that is rated general audience or parental guidance can strengthen children’s communication, language, problem solving and communication skills. This can also evoke happy thoughts and creative ideas.
In conclusion it is important for us to know the different movie ratings of the different movies as these can act as guide to what the children/teenagers like us should be watching. We children and teenagers should not be exposed to violence, drug use and bad language. As a growing child I should be aware and take control in watching movies that is appropriate for my age. I should be disciplined and respect the movie ratings decisions by the movie regulating board.
I am Interestested in asthma because. Asthma is getting more common because of inheritance or air pollution.
It affects my family because most of my family members have it. And I am one of the few in my family that doesn’t have asthma. I knew that Asthma affect the airway of you breathing when you have a asthma. This issue is relevant to me because I saw so many people suffer asthma attacks including my family members. This is important because people won’t admit they have asthma so they can be normal like everyone else even though they have risks of an asthma attack or even death. This affects teenagers because 3404 deaths were caused by asthma in 2010
I learned that asthma can be a disappointing disease In my opinion this issue is important because asthma is getting more common because of air pollution, and inheritance of family members .What surprised me was 3,404 deaths were caused by asthma. This is because I thought asthma is just a harmless breathing problem. But sadly it can be a big deal to people who do have asthma. Some misunderstandings are how people think asthma can be contagious even though it is not it is caused by air pollution or inheritance of your family . Asthma is an incurable illness. However, with good treatment and management there is no reason why a person with asthma cannot live a normal and active life.
I chose the brain because the human body and it’s components have been a thing that has always been interesting to me and learning the different functions of the different parts are always so fascinating. This relates to me because, obviously I have a brain, honestly I didn’t know a lot of things about the brain at first, things like it’s the command center of the body and that it supplies information to the rest of the body. So researching more about the topic was very fun and allowed me to expand my knowledge. This is important to me because I want to know more about the functions of the parts of the body because later in life, I want to have a career path relating to medicine and the treatment of others. The brain affects teenagers because it causes a lot of problems for them. For example many young adults get into drug abuse, in fact 90% of teenagers use prescription drugs to get “high” or have a pleasing effect. When drugs are taken it triggers the brain’s pleasure center making this a large reason for teenagers to take drugs, it also makes them addicted to the drug leading to addiction problems later in life
I learned about the different parts of the brain and it’s different functions, it expanded my learning of the human body and the parts of the brain. I think that the brain is a impressive and important part of the human body and it should be treated with care. I thought what was interesting was how much there is to the brain and how much of an asset it is to the human race. A common misunderstanding is that people have different learning styles, that some may be a visual learner or a verbal learner but really it has not received much validation from actual studies.
This is a picture of a brain and it’s different parts
I chose comic books because its the most intriguing to me. Comic books are interesting and been here longer than I have lived. These have always been a part of me. I’ve been reading these my whole life especially during ages 7-10. I am really interested in studying comics because everyone says to read ‘novels’ and that ‘novels’ are better than comics. This grows our imagination which is good for children and creativity. Since most of the comics are superheroes it will change your perception to change the world for yourself. This will help you in school because usually superheroes have backstories which usually relate to the past. This will usually help you in Social studies. This is related to wellness in the mental side of it. This affects your mind and the way you think effectively and act on it. If you do read comics then your mind will grow wildly and your creativity will follow due to the drawings stories and the action. You should still be able to read original Novel. If you don’t read books your brain Would not grow very well. Novels are still the start of everything you shouldn’t always read comic books
A few years ago, I read a book called A Mango-Shaped Space which was about a girl with synesthesia. While reading this book, I was really interested in the condition and what it was. This condition isn’t something that could affect us majorly, since it’s something we get at birth. However, I feel it’s important to know about it and accept it if we are ever introduced to someone with it. Before this project I already knew a little about grapheme-colour synesthesia because of the book, but I did learn more about it and the other types of synesthesia.
In my opinion, synesthesia is a really interesting topic. I learnt about how many different forms of synesthesia there are and what areas of the brain each one involves. This added to what I already know about synesthesia as before I thought there was only one form of it but through this project I learned about all of the other forms and found some ones that were really unique. It was really surprising to find a form of synesthesia that involved hearing and tasting. When I first started learning about the different types of synesthesia, I thought that all of these forms were just one big thing that made up a synesthete but found out that they were actually 20 separate forms. I also learnt about the difficulties of this condition such as confusion in maths or trouble remembering names and personalities. Now I know about this intriguing condition I can start to learn about more conditions like this.
My health buzz is about why you need to sleep and its also about that what happens if you do not sleep.basically its all about what happened with people in the world that did not even get sleep for 6 hours of sleep and because of that there were some problems about that and my presentation is also about how sleep benefits us like some improvements in our body.
I choose sleep because I thought that nowadays teachers sometimes give lots of home work at once and then the students cant complete it so they have to wake up night and do the homework and because of that they dont even get six hours of sleep and then they are tired the whole day.
Also that if there is to much homework and then it is done when you are looking at the laptop or phone it affects are brain.
I thought to choose sleep as maybe I can tell students that what to do to get a good sleep as then they can get the amount of sleep they need to get (6 hours)so they don’t stay tired the whole day and then they can get a good sleep.
Scoliosis is what my presentation is based about. Scoliosis is the lateral curvature in your spine. It is important for me to inform students about Scoliosis, because Scoliosis is most vulnerable in ages from 10 – 12 years old. If you do not take care of your posture, you might get this condition or worse end up in serious troubles. That’s why in my presentation, I will explain the facts and, ways to prevent it from happening to you. The reason why I picked this topic was because, I myself had Scoliosis although it is mild or minor. The reason it effects us is because Scoliosis is most vulnerable from ages 10-12 years old. As you know. many people have countered their conditions by putting time into their exercise, and then, their is a possibility surgery can be avoided. Some interesting facts about scoliosis are..
- It can be inherited
- Only small percentage of victims require surgery
- Most cases of scoliosis have no known cause
It is scientifically proven that if your parents have this condition, you are more likely to inherit it. As I had said previously, it is important for you to know because this presentation could potentially help you avoid or prevent you from getting it. Hopefully, there is many exercises to help reverse or prevent your condition, to get worse. Some exercises I do to help me is planks, swimming, and other activities that are based on spine straightening.
I choose this topic because i would like to stop street kid from sniffing rugby because 10,000 streets kids die a year from sniffing it and also would like to stop uses of drugs around the phillipines did you know that the Phillipines has the most street kid realated deaths around the world and thats just from sniffing rugby. I think that is obsured that the Philipines hato be the country with most street kid realted deaths. In conclusion I would like to put a stop to and maybe give them some proper food.
I choose this issue because I am an extreme athlete that plays multiple sports who has the ability to get a compound fracture in an instant. Also I admire some of the people that had experienced the compound fracture which got me interested into this conflict. Moreover, if I am not aware as known athlete of this situation, I may be at risk of getting this injury. In which the compound fracture can threaten my sporting career. Also, as sports play a big role in my life, I can’t imagine not playing sports and that would affect my health. I previously knew that a compound fracture is when the bone goes out through the skin as seen through Kevin Ware who witnessed the injury. A compound fracture is indeed related to a fracture but just worst. They both are similar because your bone is cracked. However in a compound fracture the bone shifts more dramatically and can possibly go out of your skin. This issue is obviously impactful to me and my peers because we are surrounded by sports and the main cause is playing dangerously in which we do a lot. This occurs because we will do anything it takes to win. Some of the effects are parents tend to be appalled of injury and don’t want child to get injured so they can do acrobatic sports like basketball. Also, If injury happens to them they decrease in mental, physical, emotional and social trying to recover from injury. Another effect is If it occurs, it could possibly threaten their chance to ever play sport again. Lastly,if you don’t give proper care to it the bone doesn’t recover.
To begin with I learned that this injury occurs a lot but mostly happening in fast paced sports. It is shown that 1/10 of the injuries that occur are compound fractures in the united states, which is caused from too much tension on the bones. Furthermore I learned that if it happened to you, you desperately need the right care or else you won’t return to sports. Before, I had no knowledge about the injury and how it was caused until I learned about. Ultimately this made me more aware when I am playing sports. In my opinion the compound fracture can be avoided if you land correctly every time not putting too much tension on the bones. Also, think about what you’re doing before it happens so that you won’t have to be getting medical care. I was surprised that once it happens to you if you don’t get the right care, consequently you won’t be able to play sports ever again. Another, concept that shocked me is that this injury happens in variety of sports I thought it was just basketball at first. Like I said before I used to think that compound fracture is when the bone when through your skin and only thinking it happened basketball. As my theory evolved I now think that it when your bone dramatically shifts in the bone or sticks through your skin. This information also helps in some situation because I am more aware about the action I do. I previously new it happens in fast paced sports in which I play quite frequently. However their is one misunderstanding I have and that is how long does that average compound fractured to recover back to normal, knowing that this is one of most dangerous injuries, really it just ranges in time depending on how bad the injury is. Importantly, there is no solution to this injury but you can be smart about action do meanwhile trying to avoid risky actions. Lastly this has a big effect on my physical fitness because i’m now more aware about what I do, so I prevent this injury from happening. With a doubt this is one of most gruesome injuries that is common to get, so avoid it!
I choose this topic because I use electronic devices at home and school. Before, I heard that the blue light will affects our eyes so I wanted to know how will it affects us. It will affects our eyes, sleeping, mental. For example, blue light affects our eyes because it has the property that it is easy to scattered. It causes flicker. By that, the brain has a hard time to focus on. I have a connection to this because my eyes got bad by the blue light. It is important because if we don’t stop this, then eye sight gets bad.
I learnt that the blue light is a visible radiation. It expand my learning by knowing about blue light more. My thinking about the blue light is it dangerous. My interesting about the blue light is that is there any more ways to avoid this except blue light cut film and blue light cut grasses. Some problems of this issue are it affects people’s eyes and sleeping.
