Healthy Habits and SMART Goals

Now that we know more about the 6 areas of Health, thinking about healthy habits and setting goals for ourselves this semester will be a bit easier.  In class we will be working on creating a Vision Board of 3 Wellness Goals that we will set for ourselves.  



Remember when writing your goals to use our S.M.A.R.T. formula:

S – Specific

M – Measurable

A – Achievable

R – Relevant 

T – Timed




UNIT 1: Healthy Body

Unit Understandings:


  • Students will understand personal choices when making healthy decision related to goal setting, physical Fitness and Nutrition.
  • Students will understand that the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology and other factors which affect their health behaviors can aid or hinder their personal health goals.
  • Students will understand that practicing health-enhancing behaviors such as personal health goal setting, proper understanding and care of body systems, and proper nutrition can reduce their health risks.
Essential Questions:
  1. How can I be health smart?
  2. Why is regular exercise so essential for everyone?
  3. What makes a food healthy or unhealthy? 
  4. What does the phrase “You are what you eat” mean to you?  
  5. Why do teens develop unhealthy eating behaviors?
