Reproductive Process: Order of Events

Below you will find both the order of events for males and females during the reproductive process that occurs before fertilization.

Can you name the male and female sex hormones?

MALE FEMALE
Penis (sexual organ) becomes erect (spongy tissue fills with blood). Day 1.  Shedding of the uterus lining (endometrium).  Lasts up to 7 days.
Sperm is made and stored in the testes (sex gland) and it is released. Day 14-16.  An ovum (egg – sex cell) is released from the ovary (sex organ)
Sperm (sex cell) travels along the sperm duct. An ovum travels along the fallopian tube to the uterus.
Fluids produced in the seminal vesicles and prostate gland mix with the sperm. The ovum implants in the uterus and the lining thickens.
Semen (fluids and sperm) is released through the urethra.  This is called ejaculation. The ovum matures and lining thickens if it is NOT fertilized the menstrual cycle will start again.
