Effects of Starch-Arjun

What is Starch:

A naturally abundant nutrient carbohydrate, found chiefly in the seeds, fruits, tubers, roots, and stem pith of plants, notably in corn, potatoes, wheat, and rice, and varying widely in appearance according to source but commonly prepared as a white amorphous tasteless powder.

My definition:

To me Starch is a white, carbohydrate that is found in fruits, cereals, grains, seeds and especially potatoes. Starch is also used in a lot of foods because, it’s the thing that keeps the food together and from falling apart.

Why is Starch important:

  • Starch is Sticky. Using its stickiness it keeps the food together. Without the Starch the food would just break apart.

  • Starch is not only used in foods. It is also used as an adhesive in papermaking companies.

  • Starch molecules are made of Glucose units. These glucose units give you energy, that means Starch= Strength

Bad effects of Starch:

Starch is kind of like sugar. As a carbohydrate overeating it can be dangerous. Some effects of too much starch include:

  • Calories

  • Increase of Blood pressure

That’s pretty much all. Starch has as many negatives as many other carbohydrates.

Conclusion:

In conclusion Starch is as good as any other food. It’s our/your choices that make the food healthy or unhealthy.
